Fracture Resistance and Failure Mode of Endodontically Treated Premolars Restored with Different Adhesive Restorations
Authors
Abstract:
Introduction: The restoration of endodontically treated teeth is a topic that has been studied extensively but it is still a challenge for dental practitioners. The aim of this study was to evaluate fracture resistance, fracture patterns and fracture location of endodontically treated human maxillary premolars restored with direct and indirect composite resin and ceramic restoration. Methods: Eighty non-carious maxillary premolars were selected and divided into four groups (n=20). Endodontic treatment and mesio-occluso-distal preparations were carried out in all the groups except for the control group (group I). Subsequently, the prepared teeth were restored as follows: group II: indirect composite restoration; group III: ceramic restoration; group IV: direct composite restoration. The specimens were subjected to compressive axial loading until fracture occurred. The mode of failure was also recorded. Results: Group I had higher fracture resistance (1196.82±241.74) than the other groups (P

Purpose: To compare in vitro fracture resistance of endodontically treated premolars restored with bonded amalgam or resin composite. Materials and Methods: Fifty intact and caries-free premolars that had been extracted for orthodontic treatment were selected. All teeth were subjected to endodontic procedures and MOD cavity preparation. They were then randomly divided into the five following gr...

background and aim: the present study aimed at determination of the fatigue resistance and failure mode of cusp-replacing onlays in endodontically treated premolars using indirect composite resin restorations. materials and method: in this experimental study, 84 human premolars were randomly divided into 7 groups of 12. these groups were prepared as follows: intact teeth used in group1 as contr...
full textComparison of the Fracture Resistance of Endodontically Treated Maxillary Incisors Restored with Six Different Post and Core Systems
Background and Aim: Different methods and materials are available for post and core (P&C) fabrication. We aimed to compare the fracture resistance and failure modes of endodontically treated maxillary central incisors restored with six different P&C systems. Materials and Methods: In this in-vitro study, after endodontic treatment and coronal preparation of 60 maxillary central incisors, six d...

BACKGROUND AND AIMS The aim was to evaluate the effect of three methods of fiber insertion on fracture resistance of root-filled maxillary premolars in vitro. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty extracted human maxillary premolars received endodontic treatment followed by preparation of mesioocclusodistal (MOD) cavities, with gingival cavosurface margin 1.5 mm coronal to the cementoenamel junction (C...
